Came across ramen noodle cups that have a totino's flavor when I was at work. It was only a case of it in the back of the store that didn't have a spot on the shelf yet, but still weird to see such a flavor even exist.

I'm not really certain why we categorize memes as copyright, actually, it does seem dissimilar to the other stuff in the category. normally that's where stuff like copyright holders and "brand"s (which includes holidays and mythologies, as well as fictional and real-world brands). memes don't really seem to fit in with what generally goes in there...

Really not liking that I can now see comments that are below my threshold in the Comments tab. And I'm not seeing a way to fix that myself unless I'm overlooking something

Thank the omnissiah the site kept on returning an ssl error and wouldnt show up on my browser unless i used wifi resetting seems to have fixed it for now

To anyone interested, how much would you agree/disagree that the music that friends and/or family listen to have influenced your music interests? Obviously your music tastes may steer off in a different direction over time, but I'm curious how much or how little things have changed in genre interests. For me personally, there's some amount of influence still there, but most of the music is from my teens and even further back. Some of the music I listen to recently is more old school, or music I come across from YouTube videos/recommendations.

I mean like, character-wise, they might like or befriend each other at the very least. Because, IMO, that's usually really the only metric that defines a ship being "crack" or not by most, and that also applies to canon/non-crossover pairings.

But my point wasn't that "MordeTwi is not Crack", but that it wasn't a Joke Ship to begin with - which I feel like was otherwise the impression from the wiki.
I didn't mean to take it personally though.

again, I'm not saying that it's a bad thing. but like, in concept, these ideas are inherently ridiculous, they may work in practice but, in theory you gotta understand where people on the outside are coming from. and not take stuff so seriously or so personally.

like, if I told you about a mid-2000s era Dragon Ball Z-inspired NewGrounds sprite animation series that was a crossover between Mario and Sonic where the Sonic characters have a gritty dark backstory, like-- that's kind of a far-fetched concept, and I'd understand assuming that it's going to be totally unwatchable garbage rather than it being better than all of its main inspirations in several aspects.

    I think that pretty much describes all crossover ships. I can grant you that MordeTwi, the pairing, can be considered a "meme" in a Dawkinsian sense. But like ohsecsex said, "meme ship" usually describes something like Shrek x Shadow, which is not what MordeTwi was. Context matters, and I think that determines whether a ship is "crack" or not.

    even then, externally, I think you still ought to recognize the ridiculosity.

    MordeTwi is not ridiculous, let's be real. IMO, people just don't realize or make sense of how MordeTwi could work theoretically, and are too quick to dismiss it as Crack.

    shipping is a branch of what-iffery, and I think the same rules that are generally used to judge the coherence of a what-if concept applies to shipping. it is a spectrum, but I think pretty much any ship where you have to make rationalizations too numerous or too large that the characters and/or their world are no longer coherent to the source material is a some level of crack ship.

    that isn't to say that a story is bad, necessarily. just that the work needs to justify itself pretty hard. and, even then, externally, I think you still ought to recognize the ridiculosity.

    History really did such an injustice to MordeTwi. The wiki page for the 'morretwi' tag gives a false impression of what the ship was really supposed to be about - and it's no thanks to the popularity of the Airplanes meme and the "Redraw MordeTwi" fad.
    If you don't know, MordeTwi didn't become a thing because of the "airplanes in the night sky" drawing, it came way before that; it became a thing when a club/group on DeviantArt had to be made because the ship was getting so much fan-made content, and that was because of a fanfic inadvertently inspiring some people to ship the characters.

    MordeTwi is not a "meme ship" or "art portraying the relationship in a melodramatic light" - that's just the Airplanes meme! Rather, it is simply the pairing of Mordecai and Twilight - hence the portmanteau name. And FYI: the "original piece of fan art" was made in 2012, not 2011, and also check its description. "Airplanes" was just a guy trying to contribute to the group.

    Switching to mobile mode basically brings it back. So until then, I’ll have to stick with mobile…

    it's full-screen mode that's causing it, apparently. not sure if there's any way to disable full-screen removing the taglist on the post view page, though.

    It might just be me, but I think there may better ways to react to getting wrong tags locked out of your posts than going through someone's tag history and undoing random edits out of spite 🤔

    Remember boys and girls;
    Deleted posts aren't actually removed from the site, they're just hidden behind the tag 'status:deleted'
    This means that they aren't removed from favorites, sets or pools, which means you need to remove them manually.
    So what you do is just put 'status:deleted' in the search and you'll see every deleted post, and you can remove them from your favorites or whatever

    Shared this post on the #techy-talk discord channel and dayum it struck me that CD-Rs were the 2000's generation mixtape. This tune was one of them music we once shared to each other through infrared, bluetooth, or from those hip-hop rap compilation CDs that folks sell on the street or in those CD booths with the loud speakers! Time really flies and tech goes advanced fast

    What do y'all think is this generation's mixtape? Spotify playlists? :D
