I'm not really certain why we categorize memes as copyright, actually, it does seem dissimilar to the other stuff in the category. normally that's where stuff like copyright holders and "brand"s (which includes holidays and mythologies, as well as fictional and real-world brands). memes don't really seem to fit in with what generally goes in there...
