Professor Samuel Oak (Japanese name: オーキド・ユキナリ博士 ŌKIDO YUKINARI-hakase, Dr. Yukinari Ōkido) is the Pokémon Professor of the Generation I. He studies all types of Pokémon and is the very first Professor of the series.

Oak is world-renowned, hailing from the Kanto region where he resides in Pallet Town.

In the Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, FireRed and LeafGreen games, he gives Red and Blue their very first starter between : Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
In the Yellow version, as well as in Let's Go, Pikachu!, Pikachu is given instead.

He is light-skinned and has white hair. His eyebrows are thick and black, as are his eyes. He is often shown wearing a lab coat over a red shirt, tan pants and brown shoes.
Oak is Blue's and Daisy's grandfather. He's also Samson's cousin.
