snakeplant
The snakeplant (Dracaena trifasciata) is a flowering plant native to tropical western Africa from Nigeria to the Congo. The shape and sharp edges of its leaves inspired many of its common names — snakeplant, mother-in-law's tongue, and Saint George's sword. Its stong fiber can be used to make bowstrings.
There are two other snakeplants: the chocolate-scented Nassauvia serpens of the Falkland Islands and the morning glory Ipomoea corymbosa of Central America.
