Species: bearded vulture
The bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) is a bird of prey native to southern Europe and northern Africa over to India and Tibet. Also known as the lammergeier or ossifrage, it's actually not closely related to the Old World vultures proper although often lumped in with them. They are classified as Nearly Threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
The bearded vulture is the only known vertebrate whose diet consists almost exclusively (70 to 90 percent) of bone. Unlike most vultures, their heads aren't bald.
