The Mothman is a cryptid first reportedly sighted in November 1966 and involved in a large number of urban legends since. The monster reportedly has gigantic wings and piercing red eyes, standing taller than a human, and has been said to be connected to the collapse of the Silver Bridge in the city Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in December 1967, with that tragic incident taking the lives of many people. Various controversial assertions made by eyewitnesses and others about the creature have been listed in the book The Mothman Prophecies by American journalist John Keel. Alongside similar entities such as the Sasquatch and the Yeti, it has been a part of popular culture as well, with an example being the Magic: The Gathering card created in its honor that describes it as an "Insect Mutant" of note.
