Character: raphael (baldur's gate)
"The mouse smiled brightly: it outfoxed the cat! Then down came the claw and that, love, was that."
Raphael is a supporting antagonist in Baldur's Gate 3.
The son of Mephistopheles, Archdevil of Cania, the 8th Layer of Hell, Raphael is an extremely powerful and ambitious Cambion (Half-Human/Half-Devil hybrid) with lofty goals of surpassing his father. He takes a special interest in the Party of Tadpoled Adventurers. When he is first met in Act 1, he will whisk the party away to his mansion in Avernus, the First Layer of Hell which he refers to as The House of Hope. He will wine and dine them, offering them a chance to have the Tadpole removed from their brain in exchange for their immortal souls.
He later appears again in Act 2 at the Last Light Inn looking for new clients and will later appear at the entrance to the Thorm Mausoleum where he will warn the players about an extremely dangerous monster hiding in the tomb.
In Act 3, Raphael can be encountered in the Brothel Sharesses Caresses where he will reveal his true goals and will offer a deal to the players: For a weapon to defeat the Cult of the Absolute. The players can however break into his House of Hope to steal the weapon for himself, which will in turn cause him to become hostile.
When Raphael is initially encountered and in most of the scenes you meet with him, Raphael has the appearance of devilishly handsome human man in his mid 30s. He has swept back dark brown hair, flushed reddish skin, and brown eyes. He usually wears a fancy blue and red doublet. When turned hostile, Raphael reveal his true form. While his build is largely the same, he now has fiendishly red skin, black sclera, horns, and large bat-like wings.
Raphael is considered one of the hardest enemies in the game.
