Benzaiten AKA Benzen is a East Asian Buddhist goddess (actually a Dharma protector). Originating in India from the Buddhist goddess Saraswati and later imported into Japan via China, she became associated with dragons, snakes, local Japanese deities, wealth, fortune, protection from disease and danger, and the protection of the state.
