A bin is a container that is open on one side to allow easy access and storage of things. Bins commonly take the form of a box or basket. The term bin is commonly used to refer to waste receptacles, but has many other applicable usages. Some bins are designed to be slotted into a larger storage container, appliance, or piece of furniture. A common example of this are the storage bins inside refrigerators.

Not to be confused with

• drawers - The storage containers of furniture items such as desks, dressers, and file cabinets are technically bins, but not typically referred to as such.
