An establishment primarily for the selling of alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, spirits, or cocktails. Within such an establishment, the long counter behind which a bartender works is also known as a bar.

This may include pubs, saloons, speakeasies, and so forth.

Not to be confused with bars, a physical obstruction taking the form of staggered poles, like on a prison cell.
