The M1911, also known as Colt 1911 or Colt Government, is a single-action, recoil-operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.

Often also identified only with more specific model identifiers, such as "Colt MK IV series 70/80"

Identification

• Trigger is not a thin lever, but "solid" from the finger position all the way to the handle, often having holes from side to side for stylistic appearance and probably for saving material and weight.
• The slide has an inch long section of ridges for better grip at the back, starting from half an inch from the very back.
• There is visible, below the mouth of the barrel, the smaller round recoil spring plug.
