A maul is a heavy, two-handed hammer. It consists of a large and/or heavy hammer head that's connected to a long handle or pole. Like the hammer, it's originally a tool though variants of it have been adapted for warfare as well.

Not to be confused with

• sledgehammer - The hammer head is typically smaller in size.
• warhammer - The head is smaller as well as possessing a spike or pick at the back-end.
• darth_maul - A character from Star Wars.
• mauling - A verb that describes tearing something or someone apart with teeth and claws.
