Detective Pikachu is an adventure video game for Nintendo 3DS. A spin-off of the Pokémon franchise, it was developed by Creatures Inc., published by The Pokémon Company, and distributed by Nintendo. First published in February 2016 as a Japan-exclusive downloadable game called Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo (名探偵ピカチュウ 〜新コンビ誕生〜 Meitantei Pikachu ~Shin Konbi Tanjō~), a full version was released worldwide in March 2018. The game stars an 18 year old named Tim Goodman, who ends up solving mysteries with the titular Detective Pikachu, a Pikachu who can talk (to Tim), loves coffee, and wears a deerstalker hat.

The game received a live-action/CGI theatrical film adaptation—the first one ever in the Pokémon franchise—titled Pokémon Detective Pikachu in 2019.
