Species: tamandua
post #214898 post #214908 post #288060
The tamandua are a species of two anteaters, northern and southern tamandua. They, like others of the species, have elongated muzzles and long, prehensile tails they use to aid in their semi-arboreal (tree) lifestyles in the Central and Southern Americas.
Their pelts are yellowish-white to tan in color, often with a black banding upon their sides. Though not easy to distinguish, northern tamanduas have black V shapes on their backs and a "vest" marking over their torsos, while southern tamanduas tend to be lighter in color and may lack the "vest".
