Snow is a form of precipitation within the Earth's atmosphere in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall from clouds. Since snow is composed of small ice particles, it is a granular material.

Although snow is usually composed of tiny water crystals, snow may be created from other compounds if the conditions are right. It is still accurate to tag those situations using this tag. Consider using the unusual_snow tag for any snow based on any compound other than water.

A mixture of snow and rain, or refrozen raindrops is known as sleet, and tends to be more consistent with ice than snow.
