Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: mango_(dawn_6e736677) -> nonbinary_(lore)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

characters tags don't imply lore tags since lore tags don't get added if they're tagged that gender in the post. if they're depicted as nonbinary, then they wouldn't be tagged nonbinary_(lore).

A character can't be "depicted as nonbinary". There isn't a nonbinary general tag like there is male, female, etc, for nonbinary_(lore) to clash with. The closest may be ambiguous_gender, but that's not really the same thing.

However, lore tags are handled on a post-by-post basis. We go by what is intended for each image, and an implication like this would fail if they're ever depicted as non-nonbinary; perhaps an AU, an artist playing around with different concepts for the character, or the character owner deciding they're not nonbinary anymore.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but what's the actual staff policy on this matter?

The "don't tag it unless it contradicts" policy is apparently outdated according to one staff who also quoted the head admin's response to it.
I also feel that topic #56446 really needs to be addressed since the wikis are also showing contradicting tagging policies.

...I forgot about fixing the gender wiki pages.

I'll add it to the to-do list.
