Reason: I don't get the difference between these tags, can we just stick to caught_in_the_act, which is more common?
Following the logic of TGYS, if you were caught, you were doing something. Hence, you were caught in the act.

I see. You can be caught_off_guard while not necessarily doing anything (not in the act). Think of an attack from behind, for example.
In that case, caught_(disambiguation) is more adequate.
