Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: mew_(pokemon) -> mew

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Wouldn't it be better the other way around? mew -> mew_(pokemon)?
Mew sounds like an ambiguous word, it could be the depictions of "mew" sounds written on the pic, or other characters named "mew".

On another note, while the "mew" tag only has 6 posts currently, the tag change history goes a long way back

If it's ambiguous enough to require a suffix, it's too ambiguous for an alias. In general we should never alias tags to suffixed versions.

Not for the first time, I find myself wishing the changes history supported exclusive searches (i.e. show only results where the final tags do not include a certain tag).

Anyway, it looks like the vast majority of changes were a mass update from mew to mew_(pokemon) applied by bitWolfy. Further research reveals this was BUR #3518, which references topic #35921... which is hidden. Great. Why do we allow users to do that again?

Transparency! Meh, it shouldn't be used for a BUR.

I was surprised that Mew -> Mew_(disambiguation) alias didn't exist.
