So I got bored and decided to look up banger racing on YouTube, and I was kinda surprised when I first saw the cars they used. Like, I guess it makes sense. If they were using 80s cars back in the 2000s, then they'd be using 2000s cars now. But idk, I just didn't expect to see clear coat on a dirt oval.

    Talking of tagging projects, as an Easterner I feel many defects on how they tag here.
    For example:

    • They seldom distinguish between kimono and hanfu (ancient Chinese clothing).
    • They misunderstand Qilin (Kirin) as a kind of dragons.
    • Some of mythical creatures of Chinese origin are called in Japanese (麒麟 Qilin -> Kirin, 白澤 Baize ->Hakutaku).
    • Xiezhi implies Korean Mythology in spite of being a Chinese spelling.
    • What is Mythological Fenghuang? The word "Fenghuang" doesn't have any modern another meanings as non-proper noun, unlike Chimera (biology) and Sphinx (cat).
    • Many mythical beasts could have their own species tags, especially those which from Fabulous Beasts, many of them are commonly featured in some of Eastern franchises.

    Could we get East Asian users together and set up a project to fix these kind of stuff?

    Nah I feel that. I think for me I recognize a lot of people from even before I had an account. Like I think the first time I ever came onto here (not with an account) was like 12-13 years ago based on one of the images in my favorites. I didn’t make an account until stuff of mine was on here. And now I just lurk here like 24/7 because my adhd loves tagging projects.

    tangential, but man, like at least ~2/3rds of the time I glance at user accounts they're way newer then I expect them to be. it just feels like I've kinda, like, "known" some of you longer than I actually have done.

    Imagine if there were a meta tag for any post where the image's file size consisted of the numbers 621 in that order
    Like, if the image's file size was 621kb, 6.21mb, or 621mb etc then it would have this tag, and it would just be called '621'
    (not saying this is a good idea, just think it's a funny thought)

    A good thing I got from the pizza yesterday is that it wasn't greasy at all and could be better for the health. Still, it was too dry so we had to dip it in butter to make it easier to eat

    yeah, I never got TikTok, it kinda just seems like unfiltered overstimulation to me. at least with YouTube Shorts you can back out and watch more normal-paced content.

    that being said, it's not all that surprising. mindless obnoxious hyperactive garbage being mega popular is nothing new, a platform that fosters that kinda stuff specifically should probably have been expected to do well.

    either way, banning the patform seems unnecessary at best, from what I've seen. people intentionally using an app with even closer, more direct ties to the CCP in protest dosn't exactly give me confidence that people can be trusted to keep themselves and their online presence safe and secure, though...
