Adidas is a German athletic apparel brand, headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria. It is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and second largest in the world after Nike. The company was founded by Adolf Dassler in 1924 and offers a wide variety of sports and workout apparel, as well as sport shoes and sneakers.

The signature three stripes logo the company uses for its marketing for was acquired from Karhu Sports) in 1952 for two bottles of whiskey and and the equivalent of €1600.
