A tag count is a visual representation of an artist, character, species, or topic's popularity on imageboards such as e621, indicated in the form of a tag name followed by a number.

Unlike with e621 post recursion and e621 comments, a tag count needs not originate from e621 specifically; the ability to count instances of a tag is common to most imageboards, and more typical gallery sites will usually return the number of results for a specific search query.
Often used as an element of meta-humor, to suggest interest in a character, species, or topic, or to compare the popularity of different characters and species.
