A meme based off of the Thomas Lea painting Marines Call It That Two-Thousand Yard Stare which depicts an American soldier prominently in the foreground with a haunted look on his face, staring at/through the viewer.
The original painting is in the public domain as Lea was working as a correspondent for LIFE magazine with the US 1st Marine Division at the time of its creation. It is held by the US Army Center of Military History.
