How to Train Your Dragon is a media franchise owned by DreamWorks Animation that is based on a children's book series by Cressida Cowell. It is about a viking named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the son of his tribe's chief Stoick the Vast, who bonds with a dragon known as a Night Fury, which Hiccup names Toothless. Together, Hiccup and Toothless forge a peaceful bond between their fellow vikings and dragons. The animated film trilogy, consisting of 2010's How to Train Your Dragon, 2014's How to Train Your Dragon 2, and 2019's How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, is written and directed by Dean DeBlois, previously of Lilo & Stitch fame (with the first film also co-directed by fellow Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders).
