The Laguz are a race of humanoids featured in the Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn.

Like the manaketes of earlier games, these shape-shifting beings initially present as human, but can change into feral animal forms. Unlike manaketes, they do not require a magical artifact to transform, but they can only maintain animal form for a short time; however, there do exist magical artifacts that can overcome this limitation and allow them to remain transformed indefinitely. Even in human form, laguz typically have non-human features such as ears and tails. Laguz cannot fight in human form, but their animal forms are very strong and their natural weapons do not degrade.

Also like manaketes, laguz underwent genocide and enslavement in the past. Unlike the maneketes, they survived this genocide, but fantasy racism still persists between laguz and humans.

Laguz come in three types: mammal, avian, and dragon. The avian races are further split into hawk, raven, and heron types. Mammal laguz are stated to be very hotheaded and emotional, and live under a form of meritocracy rather than monarchy like the rest of the world. Heron laguz were almost completely wiped out in the last genocide, but they value peace and communion with nature.
