Also known as carina, breastbone, a keeled sternum or barreled chest; the keel is an extension of the sternum bone(often including fused saurian coracoid bones as well) that is responsible for anchoring the larger pectoral muscles of flying species such as birds and dragons, among others.
A chest with a keel usually presents itself as having a dome-like shape that noticeably projects well beyond the front of the the character's own neck and/or abdominal region. A bony ridge in the middle of the chest is also a common possible presentation.
