Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (Fire Emblem Echoes: Another Hero-King in Japanese) is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and released on the 3DS in 2017. It is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the Fire Emblem series, and itself marks the 15th entry in the series. It is set in the same universe and time period as the original Fire Emblem, but takes place on a different continent where war has broken out between the militaristic kingdom of Rigel and the hedonistic kingdom of Zofia. The story follows two protagonists, Alm and Celica, as they make their way across the continent in tandem in an attempt to stop the war.

Notable features:

• Monsters galore. Most of them are undead, but there are also beholder-like creatures called Mogall.
• Priests of Rigel undergo dark rituals that transform them into creepy, wizened-looking humanoids.
• Cameos of the pegasus knight sisters Palla, Catria, and Est from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.
• The central relationship is pseudo-incestuous, as the two protagonists were raised as adoptive siblings.
