cross necklace
A necklace featuring a cross shaped pendant.
When resembling an upright crucifix, this cross usually signifying a wearer having an association with Christianity. Cross necklaces are also often shown being worn by goths, especially with an inverted cross to represent a belief in Satanism or the occult (...or as a fashion statement). A beaded cross necklace is often a representation of a rosary, a set of prayer beads used and worn by Catholics, and especially commonly depicted on nuns.
Tagging Notes
- As all cross necklaces feature cross pendants, the cross pendant tag by itself is better used for cross shaped pendants on piercings, collars, or other non-necklace applications.
- Cross necklaces are sometimes called "crucifixes" in common parlance, but the crucifix tag refers to a different symbol. Don't get them mixed up.
- This tag implicates cross but not Christian cross, because it can also feature an inverted cross or other non-Christian crosses. If the necklace does include a Christian cross, that must be tagged manually.
