A hybrid offspring between a deity and a mortal creature. Their divine powers and abilities are diluted due to their mortal halves. Sometimes beings that have acquired god-like levels power are also referred to as demigods. Other times gods that have greatly diminished powers are also called demigods. Often times they have the option to ascend into a true god by some means depending on the setting and story. These can be often accomplished by things such as an impossibly difficult trial, performing a great feat, highly advanced magic, accumulating enough worshippers or by simply shedding their mortal bodies behind (ie dying).
