A breechcloth is a simplified loincloth - usually just a simple rectangle of material, passed between the thighs and held up in front and behind by a belt or string.

Of note, the forward and back hanging edges of the breechcloth must pass over the belt for it to stay up effectively. This distinguishes a breechcloth from a crotch apron, which does not pass between the thighs, and covers much less as a result.
