It was initially treated as a joke on the board because of its assumed human-like rear end which garnered it the nickname "Assdeer." The design eventually gained a genuine following and even has its own custom plushies made by admirers.

Faunazon is the Nurturing Pokémon. It lives in groups in thick forested areas. Often called "Forest Maidens", Faunazon deeply care for the forest that they call home. Groups are often seen playing with and caring for smaller Pokémon and cleaning the forest from unnatural debris. It can use its mystical connection with the forest to bend nearby plants to its will.

Faunazon is primarily based on deer. But due to a lack of prominent antlers, its appearance could be based on a doe. Its constantly raised tail makes the case for it possibly being based on the whitetail doe. It also shares physical traits with fauns from Roman mythology. Its behavior, its highly feminine, mildly sexualized design, and its propensity to live in groups could point towards forest nymphs from various European myths as being a possible inspiration. It also could be based on Deer Women, fertility fae from Native American myths. Its ability to manipulate plants and to have good relations with other forest inhabitants may also point towards an RPG Druid archetype inspiration or the Roman goddess, Fauna, the faun goddess of fertility and the forest.

Faunazon is a Grass/Fairy species that evolves from Deerfaé. (Its pre-evolution) It has green fur and a flesh-like tone that is either fur and/or skin. (This is unclear) It has two, four parted flowers with a yellow pistil on either side of the head resembling a subtle flower crown and or hair clips. It had pivoted ears, green hair wisps, a pink nose and eye lid pattern and green eyes. Its trunk is humanoid with arms and legs coming from its sides. Its arms end with plant material shaped like bracelets, and a paw with two pink finger-like hooves and a thumb. It has digitigrade legs ending in two pink hooves. Its body fur seems to resemble a leafy dress, leotard and or a one piece swim suit with a belly window. It has a small tail that sticks up with a flesh-like color on the inside. Around its neck seems to be a cloak made of plant material that flows downward and drags along the ground that can be used as an extra pair of arms.

Faunazon's name is most likely a combination of "Faun", "Fawn", "Fauna" (as in the term for an area or time period given animal make up or the Roman Faun Goddess of fertility and the forest) and "Amazon." Most likely referring to the mythological group of warrior women or the Amazon rainforest.
