Shotgunning is the act of one character smoking on a cigarette, cigar, joint, hookah, etc. Then subsequently exhaling the second-hand smoke onto another non-smoking character. Usually mouth-to-mouth via a kiss.

It can also refer to the method of consuming a beverage, especially beer, very quickly by punching a hole in the side of the can, near the bottom, placing the mouth over the hole, and pulling the tab to open the top or by inserting a straw into the bottle and bending it around the hole.
