A tank is a large container primarily used to store liquids, gases, or sometimes bulk materials such as wheat or corn grain. A tank designed to store fish, and other marine animals is known as a fish tank. The term tanker is used to describe various vehicles primarily purposed to store and transport liquids or gases.

The term cylinder is used to describe cylindrical tanks. There are cases where tank and cylinder are used to describe different types of tanks. Cylinders are usually pressurized.
