The Infantry Fighting Vehicle is a class of armored vehicle designed to carry infantry into battle.

IFVs have the following characteristics:

• Ground based vehicle (can be wheeled or tracked)
• Armed with at least a medium-caliber cannon or automatic grenade launcher
• Armor is sufficient enough to protect against small arms fire
• Off-road capable
