Species: false water cobra
The false water cobra (Hydrodynastes gigas) is a New World colubrid snake. It's name is derived from the hood that it produces when threatened, but unlike a real cobra, it doesn't rear up. The pattern and coloration of this species resembles that of true water cobras. The coloration of a mature specimen is an olive green or brown, with dark spots and bands covering much of its body.
