The dragon is a mythological creature that is characterized by predominantly reptilian qualities such as scales, lizard-like/snake-like headshape, and/or serpentine body form. Horns, head crests, spines, spikes, frills, ridges or antlers as well as long necks and the ability of flight are also common features to dragons.

Not to be confused with
- demon - While they can have dragon-like qualities to them, demons are not necessarily dragons.
- kobold - While the Dungeons & Dragons/Pathfinder version of this species may be draconic, they are not dragons.
- Other species with just horns or long_ears/pointy_ears
- Lore based species classifications that use terms such as "dragon type" from franchises such as pokemon or digimon. Many such species do not resemble dragons at all.
