Using a sharp object to open major blood vessels in the throat. Done correctly, the wound causes rapid blood loss leading to death. However, it is relatively easy to do incorrectly - resulting in the victim surviving - and is quite painful. As a result, attempted suicides by throat slitting are uncommon, but not unheard of. Instead, throat slitting is typically used as a cheap and quick method of execution.
