caber
A caber is a pole used in the caber toss, a traditional athletic event in Scotland. In the caber toss, the tosser seeks to lift and toss the caber into the air so that it turns end over end before landing. The distance it's thrown doesn't matter. It is believed that the caber toss developed from the need to get logs across small chasms so a bridge can be built.
