An early flag from the American Revolution, created by American general and politician Christopher Gadsden in 1775.
The original is a simple yellow background with a coiled rattlesnake and the caption "DONT TREAD ON ME" (sometimes rendered with an apostrophe in "don't", but the original had no apostrophe.)
