Batoids, members of Batoidea, are a superorder of cartilaginous fish, commonly known as rays. They are close relatives with sharks.

Rays are the largest group of cartilaginous fishes. They are flat-bodied, have gill slits that lead from the gills on their undersides, and broad flat wing-like pectoral fins. Their eyes and spiracles are located on the tops of their heads, and their mouths are located under their bodies.
