Species: ichthyosaur
Ichthyosaurs (Ichthyosauria) were an order of large marine reptiles existing during the same time as dinosaurs, but were not dinosaurs themselves. They were once the top predator order during the late triassic and jurassic periods, but were replaced by plesiosaurs as top predator in the late jurassic and cretaceous periods. Ichtyosaurs went extinct about 90 million years ago, during the late cretaceous period.
Despite their fishlike appearance, they were not fish (hence "marine reptile") and should not get tagged as such.
