takeover
A transformation where a character or object envelops (i.e., takes over) another character's body, usually with absorption_vore, goo_transformation, suit_transformation, or a combination thereof.
Generally, takeover looks like the host character gains a coating, suit, or second skin over top their body, suggesting reversibility or that the taken over character is still "in there somewhere" post transformation.
Mental changes are also expected but not required, so any of the following end states are possible:
- the exterior entity gains complete control over the unified body, usually from absorption vore
- both entities share control while remaining separate personalities
- both personalities seem to fuse
- the exterior has no will but seems to alter or overwrite the host character's behavior
- the host character retains control, usually from simple suit transformations
Symbiotes classically takeover host creatures.
How to count characters in takeover posts, with examples
These cases describe solo or duo situations and assume no other characters are visible.
1. The external entity in a takeover is almost always a countable goo_creature or living_* species, like a living_suit.

2. The suits in suit transformations that do not themselves show signs of life should not be counted.
3. Sometimes the external entity almost completely covers the host, especially with head_in_mouth.
4. Post transformation, if only the exterior entity is visible, then the host character cannot be counted. In these cases, tags like takeover, transformation/post_transformation, and so on must be substantiated with visible evidence. If a post in isolation cannot prove such claims, then those tags do not apply.
Do not confuse with:
- absorption_vore - a character is absorbed by another character's body without entering via an orifice. Although most takeover posts feature absorption vore, takeover excludes absorption vore where the victim is drawn into the predator. Rather, takeover includes absorption vore where the "predator" is worn over top the victim. In practice, this means takeover often describes same_size_vore but excludes digestion themes.
- mind_control - a character's will is unnaturally influenced by an outside force. Although takeover may look like mind control and appeal to that fetish, a unified being counted as one character cannot logically "mind control" itself. However, mind control is a common takeover theme, such as hypnosis sedating the victim.
- possession - entering a body or object and mentally controlling it from within. Takeover is the enveloping of a body, not its infiltration.
