
Species: striped skunk
The striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis) is a skunk native to North America. It is well known for its heavy association with humans, as like raccoons they adapt well to urban environments. They have also been captured by humans for their pelts, or even to keep as exotic pets.
This is the most well known skunk species, and one of the more well known North American mammals in general, often appearing in cartoons and popular culture.
