"Legendary duo" is a popular, fanmade term in the Pokémon fandom meant to refer to the main series' regions' Legendary Pokémon, specifically a connected "duo". Each region has at least one, and these duos are connected together in origin and design. These duos are often a game version version's "mascot", playing important roles in the plot and appearing on the game's box art, and are exclusive to their versions.

Some legendary duos often turn out to be legendary trios later on, when the eventual third member is revealed. However, despite being connected as a trio, legendary duos turned into trios often have closer dynamics/relationships together than with their third member.
