Species: cricket
Crickets are a species of insect in the order Orthoptera. Many species are well known for their chirping songs, which they create by rubbing parts of their wings together. They are quite often seen in popular literature as anthropomorphic characters and are also kept as pets in many countries such as China.
The term cricket is popularly used for any cricket-like insect in the Orthopteran sub-order Ensifera.
