A cursor is a movable indicator on a computer screen or other display that shows the point where a user's actions can or are taking place. Usually looks like an arrow, a hand, or an I-beam (when over areas where text can be changed, inserted, or highlighted), though there are other cursor designs.

Another type of cursor is a text cursor, also called a caret, in a text field (a blinking element that appears as a vertical line, an underscore, or a solid rectangle).
