    People keep saying that Aamon is fine because he absorbed that one demon but people seem to forget that the necklace that demon was in was pretty much a toy to Tina's Mom, she's plenty stronger than that demon and likely plenty stronger than Aamon.

    Like someone else said, so did Tina's Mom. She had a demon as a plaything and seems to eat people on the regular I'm fairly certain she should be strong enough to keep Aamon from reforming even though James is obviously going to ignore that fact and have Aamon be fine anyways.

    and as it seems to me, the death of a character is a strong enough technique for a pivotal plot. if you use this tool wisely, you can put together a fairly complex plot.

    (and also such a plot twist in a fantasy world allows you to make a whole plot branch to search for the lost soul of the killed character in some kind of hell/paradise/purgatory or limbo to return to the world of the living).
