Why does the Lucario say “I’m back here” instead of “We’re back here” ? It seems odd to not include the Shuckle.

That is depressing.

My guess is the Lucario works in the mines, or similiar. And cave ins have happened before.
So the Lucario has gotten good at surviving the initial cave ins.
Also, I'd guess that, if it's known that the pokemon on the other side is unharmed the priority for their rescue is lower than for a pokemon that IS harmed. Therefore their rescue is pushed back in favor of more time sensitive rescues.

Reflex is my guess.
As the Lucario indirect states, this isnt his first time being stuck behind a cave in.
So he propably has prior experience or even training on how to react.

I actually kinda liked the connection orbs in super because it made more sense to send an SOS with a magical device than to send a letter to the guild when you're trapped in a cave.

Shuckle looks like he's seen some shit.

I'm soooo glad this series is continuing.

It is with great displeasure that I announce that after more than half a decade of working with us, that 007Delta has resigned from the Wanderlust Crew due to irreconcilable differences in artistic direction with the rest of the crew, a desire to start his own projects that he is the sole artistic lead on, as well as needing to take a mental health break.

It’s no small secret how essential a part to play 007Delta had as a member of our Crew, he was a workhorse that contributed a lot of time towards our effort. However due to these differences in opinions, as well as other matters that will be kept private, it is for the betterment of everyone involved that this separation has occurred. 007Delta has transferred all rights of ownership over his contributions to our Crew, and has given us a permanent unlimited license to continue to utilize his personal characters in our works.

Because 007Delta was such a crucial part of our team, was the lead creative director of the main wanderlust comic, and personally took charge of sketching, coloring, and shading how wanderlust looks in the modern day. We as a crew need time to decide how to move forward. If it is desirable to continue the comic in a new style, or use this break as an opportunity to start something new, with an original IP.

It’s no secret that projects like Wanderlust have a target on their backs, due to the ever present nature of Nintendo’s legal department. Correct. However that leaves us in the in-between where we might get something or nothing, it will either end in disappointment or joy. The vague hope of some sort of continuation doesn't soften the blow as much when it is only a 'maybe'

Let's be real here, we're getting nothing. This whole project was literally just PMD:E mark 2 from the very beginning, we should have foreseen it would end in the same way.

Nah. Just tempering expectations so I don't end up in worse mood due to this, it's a healthy thing to do and it's not like I don't want this to continue, but I know better than to get my hopes up and ignore the other side of what may come - or rather what may never come

I really hope they decide to at least wrap up this little bit of the story. We NEED to see what happens with their relationship.

Frankly I feel don't bother wrapping up one of the character's arc's if they're not going to resolve the rest of the characters dilemmas too. People have a lot of favorites they are rooting for and there are too many open plots that are near their crescendos at this point to just finish one of them and leave the rest alone. Either pull some deus ex machina and close out the whole story in short order or leave it be until if/when you come up with an answer on how to move forward. Otherwise it will just make people bitter that they didn't pay attention to other important character's problems. Don't take that as me trying to rain on your parade or anything. Not my intent! We'll see what the wanderlust admins decide to do.

Y'know, while it wasn't the best PMD story out there and has a myriad of its own unique flaws, I will still find myself missing Wanderlust, probably because it was what motivated me to work on my own PMD stuff. Plus, I have a soft spot for a few characters and like to imagine what they could've been had the comic actually continued. Alas, it will be missed greatly. Maybe we'll see the wiki page update one day, but until then, ciao Valley Town. It was a nice stay.

The problem with pmd is that it is long as fuck. Dont forget its 48hours of playtime. It also has exceptionally good world building.

So if you start a pmd comic without a plan then finish the first act after 3months which wouid be the end of the second ingame day. You realize
"Damn this game long"
Then they loose metivation and quit.

Aiso due to the good world bulding from the writers you can let any story take place without it automatically ending after some time.

Bassically they are doomed to fail because pmd creates new artist ths artist takes on pmd realizes it is out of scope for him to reseanoably finish quits and the comic is dead.

as Kuroodod did with Oversexed Eeveelutions, redesigning the characters and the story with Oversexed Evolutions so they could continue the story without having troubles with Nintendo, i guess would make sense if the Wanderlust crew remake the story and redesign the characters to avoid nintendo troubles

So it's on hold for the foreseeable future or dead.
It has been seven months as of my post.

Really liked this and sad for the end but as with stories on other sites I'll look in occasionally
and hope for new content.
There are stories I have been checking on for several years.
Like Wild Rose Country and Wolf River, and there is "Tails of the Crimson Claw" that started 12 years ago on sofurry.

A few days ago they did announce they are continuing this btw.
TLDR the crew will be making one branch of the comic, and Delta will be making his own version.
I'd recommend joining the Discord server via their Twitter for updates and discussions.

Just to temper expectations, as it was already confirmed in the Discord (albeit not in the announcement), we will be continuing with a hybrid of both art and written work, based on the original script by Delta, though it won't be as extensive art-wise as the comics and misc content.
It's of course not the ideal situation, but it was important to us that we at least provide some closure, for all the fans who have supported us all this time, and we're working hard and making do with what we have right now. We are not working at the size of the original team.

I can't say when we'll be ready to post anything (we want to make sure to have a large reserve to make sure that we don't dry up and create more disappointment), but I'm excited for when we're ready to release what we have so far, and hope it will at least wrap-some things up! ^^

What's with all the talk of losing the pokemon theming? Haven't heard anything about this comic getting on Nintendo's radar like kuroodod's did. Has that actually happened? Wanderlust doesn't seem to have that level of exposure.

Reading through this comic again i didn't remember that it was this good... could you maybe at least release the script if there is one

I have decided to stop reading Pokémon comics, they are cursed, and something always happens

To those coming here wanting more, and to follow up to my previous comment, we are currently going through a re-read of this comic on the Discord (a chapter a week - currently on chapter 4!) leading up to written chapters (based on the OG script) + cover pages continuing the story from here :D

The small remaining crew have been working really hard to stockpile work, so as to avoid any more hiatuses, and I really hope you enjoy what we have cooked up!
As we decided to close the Patreon, the majority of this writing has been volunteer, so we have truly been driven by a passion to not have the story end here.

Because of the art cover pages, the releases will still be dropped onto e621 as well, with a link to the chapter on Archive of Our Own (fanfiction website) ^^
Please expect the first chapter, which will be starting directly after this page, on the 14th Feb!
