Topic: League of Legends character tag uniformity

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #11928 is pending approval.

mass update veigar -> veigar_(lol)
mass update volibear -> volibear_(lol)
mass update renekton -> renekton_(lol)
mass update thresh -> thresh_(lol)
mass update shyvana -> shyvana_(lol)
mass update soraka -> soraka_(lol)

Reason: All other characters from League of Legends have the "_(lol)" suffix at the end of their tags to denote them as from League of Legends.
It messed me up, I wanted to send veigar to a friend, typed in veigar_(lol), didn't get anything. I thought I misspelled it lol. I went through the League of Legends tag and *think* I found all other tags that don't follow precedent.

Tags should only be suffixed if they are not unique enough to stand on their own
Though I'm not sure all of these are unique enough to be unsuffixed

thresh should probably get it, its a real word and a bunch of games use names like Thresher for enemies

There is some precedent for franchise consistency, every single mlp character has an _(mlp) suffix even though many of them (like twilight_sparkle_(mlp) or rainbow_dash_(mlp)) don't need it.

Current guidelines stipulate that a suffix is unneeded if the name is unique enough to not require disambiguation.
The reason why a lot of these old tags don't get renamed is because it has been that way for years (e.g., link when it should really be link_(tloz)) and people haven't submitted a request for them to be changed yet.

For twilight_sparkle_(mlp) and rainbow_dash_(mlp)'s case, there seems to be alternate forms (such as twilight_sparkle_(eg), rainbow_dash_(g3), rainbow_dash_(eg), rainbow_dash_(idw)) which point towards the need for a disambiguating suffix.

True most of these are unique enough to not need a suffix but wouldn't it be better to give them the suffix for uniformity sake anyways? IMO its better than having 3-4 character tags not following the precedent hundreds of related character tags have set. IDK about you but I find it annoying when a post has:
"fizz_(lol)
gnar_(lol)
shyvana
soraka
teemo_(lol)
veigar"

Not that a post has the exact composition but you get my point.

it does look better if youre looking at a list of tags, but thats a mindtrap in irrelevance
tags dont exist as one cohesive list, they apply to posts that are, in the bigger picture, uploaded at random (bigger picture meaning not pools)
