Well, from the Wiki, the CMC mark itself is a thing.

its a very detailed wiki that some deactivated user wrote, but its requirements are, in practice, just a group of three specific characters
the idea of the mark/cape additional requirement is not upheld by users

The CMC (cutie mark crusaders) are also a group of ponies. And I agree that if you change one, then you're going to probably want to change both.

Yes, I've seen the series. :P

we do have other branding-based tags like this, but it may indeed be better to just have an entirely separate more distinctly-named tag for this purpose.

i would think that branding-based tags be relegated to copyright-esque brand names
otherwise we could do something like adding Z-Fighters to dbz posts that have the og cast from the first season

the Z Fighters don't really have a "brand", in the same way some groups do, they're just sort of an incohesive mass of individuals that share a common goal.

to continue using the example, within dragon_ball there are things that could warrant group copy tags, several martial arts schools (most notably the Turtle School) have a distinctive uniform and logo, same goes for the Galactic Patrol. you could probably also have a tag for The Great Saiyaman's team (although I'm not sure there's an actual in-universe name for them as a group).

I was going to include them along with the Galactic Patrol, but didn't because I'm a bit iffy on what of their whole deal counts; beyond the logo, their brand is a bit harder to define. they wear the same stuff that all the other Freeza Force soldiers wear, battle armour (which is potentially of saiyan origin) and a scouter (except for Guldo, who can't wear a scouter). the only thing that's unique to them is the posing, which I'm not really sure of for tagging.

i had to google them real quick but they all have a special emblem on their armor so they do get a logo to identify them
