Hello y'all, is it possible to just blacklist every artist that used a certain tag? Like rape, cheating or anything similar? I am kind of tired of going though the artist's tag to see if they draw smth that I don't like (yes I am that picky)

just blacklist rape?
If it's just "I don't want to even risk seeing this", then yes

And you can add questionable_consent, forced, & surprise_sex, depending on how through you want to be.
If it's some moralistic thing about "not supporting artists who depict the thing I don't like"? Firstly, remember, twys; this is literally the nightmare of some artists who drawn visually youthful characters, so keep that in mind. Secondly, that's beyond our help; the blacklist is to directly filter content you don't like, not to filter tags related to content you don't like. You can blacklist users who consistently upload things you don't like, but that's it.
If you're dead set on this, you'd have to either make a program to help you do this, or just add an artist to your blacklist every time you search them & notice you have a post tagged rape that's being blacklisted.

I am assuming that want to completely block all art from individual artists whether it has rape or not if the individual in question has done rape in art before rather then just blacklist rape as a theme...
There isn't and it's not likely possible. You'll have to add artists to your blacklist manually.
I'll also note that 'rape' is a tag that gets added and removed incorrectly a lot.
A bit strange you want to just blacklist everything from an artists just because they did some rape pieces, it's just fiction...
But yeah that's not doable, just blacklist "rape".
I always find these threads funny, so I created a list of all 12,021 artists that have at least one active post containing the rape tag. I had to post it elsewhere, because it was approximately 2.5x the length of the forum post character limit.
In usage, it makes the posts page take noticeably longer to load, and blacklists around 50 posts per page. That number would be again higher if I hadn't taken the time to remove 'conditional_dnp', 'unknown_artist', 'third-party_edit', 'sound_warning', 'anonymous_artist' and 'avoid_posting' from the list.
Out of this entire thread so far, the only user's avatar blacklisted is my own.

Even with that big list, you'd still miss instances of arttags:0 forced.

And the one image tagged rape from that artist (post #2113172) is dubiously tagged. From the comments it looks like it was just the kink of someone who liked the image.

even with that list you're going to catch some artists that have just depicted rape without, like, fetishizing it at all. at first glance dragonweirdo's on that list because of a scene in Marshall Goes to Jail which is obviously very much not meant to be titillating.
Great idea. You should be able to block character tags involved as well... The commissioners that funded the art are also complicit.
I can't believe these artists and their patrons are just getting away with depicting cheating🥀🥀🥀

Poe's law in action.
Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture which says that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views.

thanks for replies guys. Yeah it's more of moralistic thing, Ig i'll just continue doing it manually. Good thing that there's no limit to blacklists apparently, I copied faucet's 12k artists list and it worked (I think)

like I understand blacklisting artists that are zoos but over a fictional fetish? kinda weird but Im glad you found something that works for you

There is, it's just a character limit & not a line/rule limit. Specifically, it's 150,000 characters. Just a head-ups, if you have another similar gripe, the nuclear option is unlikely to work again - if this was the only thing in your blacklist, you'd have 20,695 characters to go, with this list being 129,305 characters.

Experienced users not knowing that they can just script the DB Exports to filter it to just posts with rape, then listing all artists of the remaining posts... For shame!
I think I used this method to sort all the Pokemon tags by count.
Hmm, pushing items to the blacklist would be an odd application of the API.
These seem to be the important bits in the POSTed data:
_method=patch authenticity_token=aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa_bbbbbbbbbbbbbb-cccc-dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
user[blacklisted_tags]=testtagtoseetheapicall testtag2! user[blacklist_users]=0 commit=Save Settings
I'm fairly certain that including the other parts is mandatory, but you'd just copy it from the existing settings for the other lines. Censored the token data because yeah... :lampshade:
If you have your script submit your settings this way, it'll work automatically. Seems weird to do it, but it IS feasible.
Hmm, it's URL encoded I guess:
_method=patch&authenticity_token=aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa& ... blacklisted_tags%5D=testtagtoseetheapicall%0D%0Atesttag2%21&user%5Bblacklist_users%5D=0&commit=Save+Settings
It literally encodes %0D%0A (Windows newline) for each tag line. BTW, if you wanted to see this directly on your own browser, it's in the Inspector tool under "Network". I just right-clicked on the POST request and copied the POSTed value (and censored my token!).
Updated

I keep forgetting not everyone's drives are as clogged as mine...

I doubt it; it uses the same Rails method as updating a set & updating posts in a set despite the post list field being absent on the set update page & all other set fields being absent on the post list update page (plus I've never had problems omitting unchanged fields with the API before). Don't recall editing my user profile by API before, but still.
It wouldn't hurt to add the other fields (as you'd need to get the current state to append to the blacklist anyways), but I don't think it's needed.

They are not, you only need to provide what you actually want to update
The commit param especially is just rails garbage that iirc is only actually used in one or two routes where both the GET and POST go to the same action

You can use json instead, and if you use /users/{id}.json instead of /users/{id}, it also will not require a crsf token (those also can't be used against you without access to your browser, they're random strings)
Also, properly use the PATCH method unless you are in a location where you can't (such as a CORS controlled script), which if you can't you would POST with the _method param set to PATCH, as seen in action (forms cannot use anything but GET and POST)
Also, self plug for documentation on that route (it shows form fields, but if you just chop off the enclosing user[] it should work fine)

I'd argue it would hurt marginally due to potential race conditions, but that's a hypothetical

I'm sorry, but I do want to pick at your brain a little, if I may. Why do you want to blacklist everything an artist has posted if they've made something you don't personally like? Why those tags in particular?
Oh cool, so you can just simply craft a request, and it'll just work. Sweet!
Hmm, JSON method looks easier. Well, I'm in habit of not leaking any random-looking parameters. Thank the cookie wars for that. XD
Thanks for more information. I was just basing my comments on observing the session in the browser using the Inspector tool. Testing with edited requests showed that it worked. Of course there's an officially documented way. ;)

I wouldn't presume of the person's reason or judge it for them. I feel it's a pretty rude take.
As for the inquiry, I think it's a misguided way to use the blacklist feature. Most of the time, it is not the artist that uploads and tags the artwork, plus everyone can add or remove tags. Which means that an artist that would never made non-consentual art can see one of it's artwork tagged with "rape" if anyone in the world feel like the artwork depicts a situation where the consent is unclear.
Furthermore, an artist that makes non-consentual art might never be blocked if those art pieces are not uploaded. Other failure point is A piece can wrongly be tagged as rape (honest mistake do happen) and get caught in that list However, I don't believe a name would ever be removed of the list once it gets on it: there's no review process. It can even end up on the list as a complete mistake..
But in the end, misguided and heavy-handed has it is, it's the user's choice to do it, and only impacts them, so I don't see why people tries to reason or influence that person's choice.
jhudson said:

Likely? If you're drawing a confident conclusion on someone's character & motivations from a singular datapoint, you're likely jumping to that conclusion.

That's a pretty colossal take, considering
1. There's already a user setting to hide favorites, one that they clearly already have on (they have favorites, but you can't see them on their profile).
2. Your blacklist has zero impact on what's stored in your favorites nor what others can see in your favorites (if they're public); blacklisting is done dynamically in the browser, not on the server, & there's even a blacklist metatag which allows you to avoid blacklisting posts in your favorites
3. No one in here is praising them for this, & those who voice an opinion (weakly or strongly, implicitly or explicitly) are either critical of the rationale (1 2 3 4 5 6), view it as comedically absurd (1 2), or are confused by it; if they're doing this for brownie points, they likely wouldn't have confirmed it's moralistic upon seeing these replies
It's entirely possible they'd just feel more comfortable not worrying about if the works they view made other works involving this topic, in the same way many YouTube viewers felt uncomfortable finding out a creator they liked was a plagiarist. I think one's far more understandable than the other, but I see no need to cast aspersions for it, especially when they aren't trying to convince anyone and just politely & gratefully left once their request was fulfilled.

I'd argue few people are trying to change their mind; if you're referring to leafdapple, I'd assume it's more a genuine curiosity than a veiled attempt to challenge a view.

Can definitely say I'm puzzled by it being a moral choice too, mostly because not all depictions of rape on this site are fetishistic. Some people write about SA non-fetishistically as a plot point to explore a character who has been traumatized [myself included with what's implied in post #4973320], so moralistically going scorched earth on one's blacklist for all artists with posts with rape tags feels odd. Not seeking to change minds but I've been reading in on this thread and wondering about it for a couple days.
That being said, being helpful here, if OP wants to blacklist all of them ever, they shouldn't forget tags such as imminent_rape, sexual_assault, and implied_rape, since not all posts with rape themes will have rape itself [molestation, drugging, etc], and some artists who will draw these will not draw actual rape.

Thanks I'll add them, tbh I am here to goon, not to get sad or heated. The simple truth is just that I don't want to see or interact with anything rape or cheating etc, because I don't like it and it just makes me sad yk, I don't claim to be a perfect person or anything
And about my hidden favorites, I just hid it before hand so there wouldn't be comments like "Oh BuT yoU hAve THis ArTis SaVEd" bc I do have some stuff favorited from people I don't like, simply because I can't be bothered to remove it from favorites after I find out that artist drew smth fucked up and I don't want to look at their stuff anymore. Or I saved smth while doing the deed without paying much attention, for example I have smth from "swaybat", but when I opened up their profile later I saw a bunch of blocked stuff like gore, rape and bestiality.
Sorry if I explained this poorly, English isn't my first language

It's entirely your choice how you want to use your blacklist. You don't have to explain yourself to people who act like they are "holier than thou" or use your favourites to argue against your choice of blacklist.
Just know that it is much easier to blacklist the kinks themselves (e.g., forced, rape, sexual_assault, etc.) rather than targeting the individual artists for your viewing needs.
While the list above does work somewhat, it only accounts for those with the rape tag and not the other new tags mentioned after. The list would also probably not be updated further as more posts (and artists) get tagged with the tag.
In the future prospects kind of sense, this kind of blacklisting method would not be sustainable with more and more artists and tags that you don't like being added to the list.
Eventually, you will reach maximum limit allowed for blacklists which @Aacafah had mentioned above, so take this as a fair bit of warning if you are looking to add a second list.
